My name is Sanjeet Rey. Those who remember me likely know me more by my "superhero" name Chimera. Living in a world where the mighty fly through the sky and battle never ending super crime one would think that I'd be used to seeing everything. And yet it's never so. Every day that passes some new unbelievable enemy appears to cause new anguish and pain for the world's heroes. Heroes die and live, it's confusing if not normal these days ever since Superman came back from the dead. Of course as I myself saw the world can be a very strange place when I discovered Carrie Levine aka Redwing, my best friend simply never was. Somehow she was a created pawn from a false future. Pawn or not I still cherish the time I had with my friend, though short it was.
I've stayed out of the super heroic limelight. I, like many of the New Bloods* never wished for our powers but they were put upon us. I do not search for crime but if I come upon it I do my best to contain the situation, with my abilities it is an easy thing, and I'm sure Carrie would've wanted me to. My abilities are still a confusing thing even to myself. I can sense and alter the very fabric of reality myself through a sheer force of will, though some have likened my abilities to illusions or some form of portal or tesseract ability. Regardless I've focused my free time on learning and honing my abilities. Being able to warp reality I slowly gained a sixth sense of sorts. I could somehow feel ebbs in reality as if it was a wave. Generally speaking reality is like a glass of water with no movement but it may have the occasional tremble as if forces outside were shaking it.
I fear what is occurring as of late. Others have not noticed this of course but I can sense changes are coming. This glass of water is being subjected to an earthquake.
Then I feel it and in a way I see it. Signs of destruction. Western Europe drowning, a great battle in a field, red and yellow lightning and voices crying out. And I sense reality itself cracking as the glass of water opens up. I utilize my powers, I try to warp the cracks back into shape to no avail and I feel myself pushed out or aside, I can't say for sure. And before me I see a figure, a man. One who looks used to knowing everything and anything, and who looks at me with some surprise.
